Pioneering the Future of Cannabis Cultivation: Medicana’s Innovative Lab

    Introduction to Medicana’s State-of-the-Art Facility

Medicana has emerged as Southeast Asia’s largest facility specializing in Fluence Bioengineering lighting solutions for cannabis cultivation. Integrating cutting-edge technology imported from the USA, this lab revolutionizes how hemp is grown. The advanced lighting system optimizes photosynthesis and energy management while maintaining an ideal temperature for hemp plants. This innovative setup, combined with a professional team, significantly maximizes yields, leading to the production of high-quality, contaminant-free CBD flowers with THC levels below 1%. This adherence to strict FDA standards positions Medicana as a trusted name in the cannabis sector.

    Key Features of Medicana’s Lab

Medicana’s laboratory boasts several specialized areas designed to enhance the cultivation process:

    • Cloning Room: A controlled environment dedicated to propagating hemp clones, ensuring consistency in quality.
    • Vegetative Growth Room: Here, selected clones are nurtured to establish a strong foundation for future growth.
    • Mother Plants Room: This space is dedicated to maintaining high-quality mother plants for consistent clone production.
    • Flowering Rooms: Tailored for optimal flowering conditions, these rooms maximize bud yield and quality.
    • Biomass Vault: A secure storage facility for harvested cannabis, ensuring the preservation of quality and potency.

To cultivate indoor-grade clones that meet rigorous standards, Medicana has installed nursery shelves where clones mature after more than two years of meticulous development.

    Collaboration with Educational Institutions

Medicana’s partnership with the Cannabis Health Science Department at Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University plays a crucial role in its success. This collaboration focuses on genetics selection, yielding a variety with a remarkable 22% cannabidiol (CBD) content and an array of unique terpenes. These specially bred clones will be accessible to local cannabis business operators and growers, fostering a collaborative ecosystem within the industry.

    Partnerships Beyond Academia

In addition to academic alliances, Medicana is working with Taratera Corporation Co., Ltd., a cannabis-focused enterprise. Their seasoned team brings extensive knowledge of cannabis cultivation both within Thailand and internationally. Taratera’s experienced extractors offer a diverse range of CBD products aimed at medical applications. These include potential benefits for individuals dealing with Multiple Sclerosis, Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, anxiety, inflammation, and insomnia, as well as support for conditions like psoriasis. The versatility of CBD extracts extends to wellness products and cosmetics, broadening the market appeal.

    Vision and Investment Goals

Medicana’s ambition is clear: to emerge as a leader in the cannabis industry by producing top-tier CBD hemp flowers that align with international standards. The company prioritizes high-CBD strains and employs perpetual harvesting techniques, enhancing supply chain efficiency and maintaining product quality. As stated by COO Sirasit Praneenij, this vision is anchored by a commitment to investing THB120 million in the project.

    Phased Approach to Expansion

The growth strategy is divided into two key phases:

    1. Phase One: An initial investment of THB20 million will enhance the facility and R&D capabilities. This includes the establishment of an indoor facility equipped with smart farming technology and an Internet of Things (IoT) system, enabling the production of approximately 500kg of floral biomass annually. The first cannabis batch is projected for release in July 2022, with a target audience comprising both governmental and business entities.

    2. Phase Two: The subsequent THB100 million investment aims to expand cultivation and production capabilities further, establishing a robust supply chain for the industry. Collaborating with partners, Medicana seeks to create a turn-key business model that leverages modern technology to meet the growing demand for cannabis in consumer products, including cosmetics.

    Expectation of Growth

Medicana anticipates significant growth this year as cannabis products become widely available both locally and for export. The focus on premium quality floral biomass and clones is expected to drive a staggering growth rate of over 100%, reinforcing the company’s position in the market.

    Expertise in Cannabis Cultivation

What sets Medicana apart is its network of seasoned experts in the cannabis field. Collaborating with industry veterans like Jesse C. Stalknecht, who has over two decades of experience managing cannabis-related entities in the USA, gives Medicana a competitive edge. Together with Taratera Corporation, which specializes in breeding, R&D, and extraction, Medicana is well-equipped to cultivate cannabis that meets international benchmarks.

Future Prospects in the Cannabis Industry

Cannabis represents a high-value crop with myriad opportunities spanning medical products, wellness solutions, food and beverages, and cosmetics. The local and international markets for indoor-grade cultivars are thriving, creating a platform for sustainable growth. As Sirasit concludes, collaboration among growers will set high standards, paving the way for the burgeoning market for premium indoor-grade clones.
